TALKING POINTS:
- It’s wrong that billions which could be spent on public services are being hidden by corporations and individuals in Jersey and other jurisdictions.
- If you are serious about fighting tax evasion, you must implement a central public register of who owns and benefits from all companies and trusts registered in Jersey. This must be public -- many scandals show we can’t trust government to regulate finance.
- Prime Minister Cameron said he hopes that ‘the whole world will move towards public registers of beneficial ownership’. The UK has introduced a public register and Jersey must urgently follow suit.
