The only way to defeat Assad
To the leaders of the Syrian opposition and the Friends of Syria:
As citizens from across the Middle East and North Africa, we call on you to show true leadership by selecting and uniting around a transitional government, to present a credible alternative to Assad and forge a path to free elections. We urge you to put the long-term future of the Syrian people ahead of all other interests -- the people of the region are looking to you to fulfill your responsibilities to end the bloodshed and usher in a new era of democracy.

The Assad regime is teetering, with escalating defections and his inner circle crumbling. But to push out the regime for good, the Syrian opposition needs to unite now and build a real transitional government that’s a credible alternative to Assad.
Sadly, despite escalating violence and sectarian divisions starting to split the country, Syrian opposition figures are behaving more like competing political parties than a front unified to oust the brutal regime. And this weakness has prevented them from attracting “the people in the middle”, who want Assad out but fear a chaotic future. Syria's opposition leaders have never been the specific target of public pressure -- but we are the only thing that could finally make them stop their squabbling and take responsibility for Syria’s future.
Unless we act now, this potential watershed moment for change could be lost and lead to unimaginable violence -- Assad has threatened to use chemical weapons. Let’s raise our voices now and call for the opposition to form a non sectarian transitional government that will lead Syria from chaos to democracy.
