Industrial Shrimp Aquaculture is causing massive environmental and social problems around the world, including extensive mangrove forest loss, wild fisheries decline, shoreline erosion, coral reef and sea grass loss, loss of traditional livelihoods and displacement of countless coastal fishing and farming communities, as well as serious human rights and labor abuses. And, this imported shrimp carries risks of serious health issues because of overuse of antibiotics and pesticides too often causing contamination of the shrimp.
