When the U.S. Public Health Service endorsed water fluoridation in 1950, there was little evidence of its safety. Now, six decades later and after most countries have rejected the practice, many cities and towns across America continue to fluoridate their water supply. The CDC and ADA continue to endorse it, despite increasing evidence that it is not only unnecessary, but potentially hazardous to health. It doesn’t take much research to realize that Fluorosilicic Acid (Fluoride) is potentially harmful to your health. It is easy to locate your city or village’s water supplier and what is being added to it on the CDC’s website using their database called “ My Water's Fluoride ”. You can then search for and find the MSDS for the acid which clearly states the following about long term exposure:

Chronic inhalation and ingestion may cause chronic fluoride poisoning characterized by weight loss, weakness, anemia, brittle bones, and stiff joints. Effects may be delayed. Chronic exposure may cause systemic toxicity. (USDOT Class 8 Corrosive)

Currently in the Illinois House there is a bill to repeal the requirement to add fluoride to our water supply. The bill is “HB-5383 - PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY-FLUORIDE” and was submitted by Republican Richard Morthland from Moline. It is co-sponsored by Democrat Linda Chapa LaVia from Aurora.

According to FluorideAlert.org, since 2010, over 64 communities in North America, with more than 2 million residents, have rejected water fluoridation, with over 30 of these communities voting to END longstanding water fluoridation programs.

Recently here in Illinois, the city of Lanark passed a resolution supporting HB-5383. This is hopefully the first of many local resolutions showing their support of this bill to remove fluoride from our water supply. You can show your support by contacting your state representatives and city council members and request they support this bill as well.
