Repeal of Mandated Water Fluoridation in Illinois
• Chronic inhalation and ingestion may cause chronic fluoride poisoning characterized by weight loss, weakness, anemia, brittle bones, and stiff joints. Effects may be delayed. Chronic exposure may cause systemic toxicity. (USDOT Class 8 Corrosive)
Currently in the Illinois House there is a bill to repeal the requirement to add fluoride to our water supply. The bill is “HB-5383 - PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY-FLUORIDE” and was submitted by Republican Richard Morthland from Moline. It is co-sponsored by Democrat Linda Chapa LaVia from Aurora.
According to FluorideAlert.org, since 2010, over 64 communities in North America, with more than 2 million residents, have rejected water fluoridation, with over 30 of these communities voting to END longstanding water fluoridation programs.
Recently here in Illinois, the city of Lanark passed a resolution supporting HB-5383. This is hopefully the first of many local resolutions showing their support of this bill to remove fluoride from our water supply. You can show your support by contacting your state representatives and city council members and request they support this bill as well.
