The Archaological Survey of India., INTACH
India's glory is crumbling, it's monuments are in a decrepit condition. Currently in Delhi, of 1300 monuments, only 174 are protected, all the others are left to crumble and fade away, and the situation is even more dire in other parts of our nation. Our cultural inheritance, our identity surrounds us everywhere- just 15km from Gurgaon, the Millenium City lie several beautiful Mughal era monuments in Farrukhnagar. Unfortunately, several of these monuments are dying slowly- the Sheesh Mahal in Farrukhnagar, a symbol of beauty and power, built under Mughal emperor Farrukhsiyar now has plastic packets and monkey droppings surrounding it.
But we, a group of high school students, want to change this. We want to ignite passion for our heritage amongst others, and we want to save our dying heritage. We want to petition Archaological Survey of India to take the Sheesh Mahal under its protection, and ensure that it is well maintained and not misused as it is currently being.
The situation is dire, but all hope is not lost. There is still hope; together we can still save our cultural identity.
