started this petition to
Gabino Cue Monteagudo, Gobernor of Oaxaca; Ernesto López Saure, Sub-Procurador General; Jesús Silva Pineda, Sub-Secretario de Gobierno; Eréndira Cruzvillegas Fuentes, Coordinadora para la Atencion de los Derechos Humanos del Ejecutivo de Oaxaca
On August 23, 2013, a delegation from CIPO-VAN (cipovan.org) delivered the petition by hand to Oaxaca's governor at the Government Palace in Oaxaca City. The delegation also visited Mirella Ramos at the Ixtlan Penitentiary to hear from her and bring the message that all of you have sent in her support. She was very happy to hear about this support, and our visit made her feel a bit stronger. Thank you all for helping!
But our work isn't finished! Please join us on September 14, 2013 at our Consulado Taquero to hear more about this campaign and enjoy delicious tacos al pastor! More info at cipovan.org

Since 1997, Mexico-based CIPO-RFM & its members have endured repression at the hand of paramilitaries, police, and State authorities for asserting their right to build their communities autonomously. Particularly, the community of Santa Maria Yaviche has suffered violence and hostility from the neighbouring community of Tanezte de Zaragoza. On January 1, 2002, Bartolome Chavez Salas, member of CIPO-RFM, was shot dead & nine other were wounded by Tanetze’s paramilitaries.

On July 2nd, 2013, Eleuterio Ramos, member of CIPO-RFM in Yaviche, was attacked and beaten by five armed men led by Samuel López Yescas, who also kidnaped three of Eleuterio’s family members, including his wife. Eleuterio is now recovering but his family has been incarcerated under trumped up charges. Eleuterio and his family needs your support in denouncing these acts of violence and in demanding justice.
