Freedom of Religion for Canadian Prisoners

The Canadian government is cancelling the contracts of all part-time non-Christian chaplains in federal prisons. The full-time chaplains, who are overwhelmingly Christian, will be expected to provide spiritual support to prisoners of all other religions. This is a flagrant disregard of the principle of religious freedom.
Prisoners who avail themselves of spiritual guidance should be supported in their efforts to transform their lives.Having access to spiritual support is key to the well-being of prisoners and their eventual rehabilitation. For this support to be effective, it must be provided by chaplains who share the same faith and practices as their congregations, be it in prison, church, temple or synagogue.
Assuming a "one religion (Christian) fits all" policy is outright discrimination.
