Tucker Bay Road leads to one of the oldest public boat access points on the northeast side of Lasqueti Island. It has been in in continual use for over 100 years and was the site of one of the first public docks with service to Vancouver on the island.
This is the only boat access point on the northeast side of the island and is a popular jump off point for those going to the Jedidiah Park. It is also used commercially by several groups.
The new land owners are trying to block public access and have place a blockade across the public road to prevent access to the ocean.
The Ministry of Transportation has the power to end this blockade and keep this valuable public asset public.
