Right now, governments are negotiating a new plan to save the world’s oceans from collapse. But powerful fishing lobbies are trying to undermine any deal, it’s up to us to sound the global alarm to save our oceans.

The European Union and some developing countries are backing a bold new ocean resuscitation plan and they want to make it top of the agenda at the critical Rio environmental summit in just 8 weeks. But several key players -- Norway, Canada and the US -- are resisting the plan at negotiations happening right now, which set the political schedule for Rio. Without them, the deal will be gutted or killed by the big fishing nations.

We can make the difference. All three of them have done much to protect oceans at home -- but haven’t yet lent their considerable influence on the international stage yet. If we build an outcry and deliver it to their delegates in New York, we can persuade them to stand up to the fishing lobby and be global ocean heroes.
