INVESTIGATE THE HACKING, FREEZE THE BSKYB DEAL!

To: Prime Minister David Cameron, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt:

We call on your government to suspend consideration of the BSkyB takeover while a public inquiry assesses the full extent of the News of the World phone hacking scandal. News Corporation cannot be trusted, and you should not hand more media power to a company with a track record of illegal activity. You have a duty to uphold high media standards for the good of our democracy.

INVESTIGATE THE HACKING, FREEZE THE BSKYB DEAL!

Campaign launched on April 12 2011
News Corporation has finally admitted hacking the phones of celebrities and politicians. It’s a scandal that’s rocking the nation -- and it could become the moment when Britain stands up and stops Rupert Murdoch.

Scarcely a month after Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt said he’d allow Murdoch to take over BSkyB, Murdoch’s people have been caught red-handed. It's clear that News Corporation can't be trusted -- and some politicians are calling for the takeover to be suspended until a public inquiry shows the full extent of News Corporation’s privacy invasion and law-breaking.

But News Corporation has gone into damage control hyper-drive, buying silence from hacking victims, trying to scapegoat individual employees. A nationwide call for an inquiry could halt this deal. Let’s show that Britain is hacked off with Murdoch’s escalating threat to our democracy. Sign the urgent petition to halt the takeover and investigate the hacking -- it will be delivered this Friday at the High Court and to Jeremy Hunt at a constituency meeting:
